What is Reiki Healing and does it really work?

May be you’ve heard of Reiki but you’re not sure what it is. Perhaps your doctor has suggested Reiki as a form of therapy complementary to your medical treatment. May be you’re wondering whether Reiki is right for you at this moment in time.
What ever your questions or curiosity, let me help guide your through the fundamentals of Reiki – this wonderful, safe, calming, and non-invasive natural energy healing – and what it can do for your body and soul.
What is Reiki

Reiki is a form of hands on healing, with its origins in India and the East dating back many thousands of years to the time before Christ and Buddha. The original name, disciplines and techniques of Reiki were lost due to the traditional method of passing knowledge from generation to generation by word of mouth. Exactly when this ancient art of healing disappeared is difficult to determine. However, we do know that it was rediscovered by a Japanese Scholar and monk name Dr Mikao Usui. Now, Reiki is used all over the world, including in hospitals and hospices, to complement other forms of health treatments.
It was in fact Dr Usui who fashioned the name REIKI. While the original pronunciation is RYE-KEY, it has been adopted as RAY-KEY in Western culture. Rei symbolizes omnipresent spiritual consciousness, representing the wisdom that stems from a higher power or one’s own divine essence. Ki, on the other hand, represents the vital energy that animates all living beings. Various cultures acknowledge and appreciate the influence of Ki energy on our overall well-being.
The activation of Ki energy plays a crucial role in healing practices. When your body experiences a high and unobstructed flow of Ki energy, you feel vibrant and enthusiastic about life. This state of being enhances your resilience against illnesses and diseases while making daily challenges more manageable. Conversely, low levels of Ki energy due to stress or emotional fatigue make you more susceptible to sicknesses. Negativity prevails in your attitude as you struggle to cope with life’s obstacles.
To put it simply, Reiki aid healing, promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety, by helping people become energetically balanced.

Reiki should never be used as a substitute for the consultation of a physician or a psychotherapist. Reiki is a complementary therapy which can increase the efficacy of other types of healing.

By engaging in reiki sessions, you can enhance your body’s ability to cope with stressors and potentially prevent future health issues from arising.
Reiki works by tapping into the innate wisdom present in every cell of our body, connecting us to the universal life force. Think of the universe as a vast ocean, with each living being as a droplet within it. Reiki is an integral part of our genetic structure, energizing our mind, body, and spirit for growth, health, and healing.
Unfortunately, due to unhealthy habits and poor choices, the flow of Reiki can become stifled. When our mind-body-spirit are in harmony, the biological intelligence governing our body’s resources intensifies. Reiki acts as a key that unlocks our body’s optimum capabilities. The seven energy centers in our body known as Chakras control the flow of universal life force energy. When these chakras are blocked or clogged, illness arises and energy becomes diluted.
A complete Reiki treatment reopens and rebalances these chakras while restoring the flow of universal life force throughout the body.
Typically four consecutive days of full treatments are recommended to boost this flow and stimulate natural healing abilities within the immune system.
During a Reiki session, you can expect a calm and relaxing environment. The practitioner will typically ask you to lie down or sit comfortably, fully clothed. They may play soothing music or use essential oils to enhance the ambiance.
The practitioner will gently place their hands on or near specific areas of your body, following a systematic approach or intuitively guided by the flow of energy. You may feel warmth, tingling sensations, or gentle vibrations as the Reiki energy is channeled into your body.
Throughout the session, you are encouraged to relax and let go of any tension or stress. Many people experience deep relaxation during a Reiki session and some even fall asleep. It is common to enter a meditative state where your mind becomes calm and peaceful.
Reiki sessions are non-invasive and do not involve physical manipulation. The practitioner acts as a conduit for the universal life force energy to flow through them into your body, promoting balance and healing on all levels – physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
Each person’s experience with Reiki is unique. Some individuals report feeling lighter, more energized, or experiencing emotional release after a session. Others may notice improvements in their overall well-being over time with regular treatments.
Distant Reiki, also known as remote or absent Reiki, is a fascinating aspect of this healing practice. While traditional Reiki often involves hands-on contact, distant Reiki demonstrates that energy knows no physical boundaries.
Reiki practitioners are trained to connect with the universal life force energy and channel it to the recipient regardless of their physical location. This is made possible through intention and focused energy transmission. The practitioner taps into the energetic field and sends healing intentions to the recipient, who can be located anywhere in the world.
The underlying principle is that we are all interconnected energetically. Just as radio waves or Wi-Fi signals can travel through space without physical wires, so too can Reiki energy be transmitted across distances.
Recipients of distant Reiki often report similar sensations and experiences as those receiving in-person treatments. They may feel warmth, tingling sensations, relaxation, or emotional release during a session. Some individuals even find distant sessions to be more profound due to the absence of physical touch allowing for deeper energetic connection.
It’s important to note that distant Reiki does not require any special equipment or technology; it relies solely on the intention and skill of the practitioner. With an open mind and willingness to receive healing energy from a distance, one can experience its benefits just as effectively as with hands-on treatments.
Distant Reiki offers flexibility for those unable to attend in-person sessions due to various reasons such as distance, time constraints, or current circumstances. It allows individuals from different parts of the world to access this powerful healing modality while still benefiting from its transformative effects on their well-being
One session may be enough. However, if you have multiple issues more sessions may be required to clear the additional blockages. Typically four consecutive days of full treatments are recommended to boost this flow and stimulate natural healing abilities within the immune system.
Monthly sessions are recommended to keep your chakras balanced and maintain good health.
