As a busy working woman/mum I know you are rushing around. Rushing around all day and all night. Rushing around taking care of everyone and everything. And that’s great .. and that’s admirable.. if you’re happy with that. But what if dashing around, being busy, all day and everyday is no longer serving you? What then?
Well the following extract from Working Mum .. away with the fairies may help.
“Lesson 1 changed my life.” Jo settled into her seat and started to reminisce. “Six years ago, I was feeling just like you: running around trying to be all things to all people, feeling like I was a failure and a fraud. I kept looking over my shoulder expecting someone to catch me out. My to-do list never seemed to get shorter – both at work and at home – and I hardly slept. I’m guessing this is where you’re at now?”
Laura’s face dropped “Yes, I sure am. But what did you do?”
“When I was at my lowest point Hope and Flo arrived and told me to stop. Just stop! Sit still and ask myself what I wanted from life. A simple enough question you might think but getting to the answer was far from simple
“You see we spend all our time heads down, running around from pillar to post and not actually accomplishing anything that will make us truly happy. We’re all so frantically busy we lose sight of what is important to us and that’s when we start to lose our way.
“We forget that we have a choice, that we are in charge of our own lives and have the power to design the life we want. All we have to do is STOP, stand back, reflect, and then say what we want.”
So I ask you now .. to STOP .. just STOP .. and ask yourself to change your focus from what you don’t want to what you do want. Do this everyday for a week, whilst you are in a queue, waiting for the kettle to boil, waiting for your little one to put on their shoes, whenever you can grab just a minute .. just start making a list of what you do want.
Then watch the magic unfold!
